One of the PWHL's newest teams has made a blockbuster move.
The Vancouver Goldeneyes acquired Mannon McMahon, Anna Meixner and Anna Shokhina from the Ottawa Charge in a six-player trade on Tuesday. In return, Ottawa received Michela Cava, Brooke McQuigge and Emma Greco.
All three players heading to Ottawa have won a Walter Cup title as members of the Minnesota Frost, who have won twice since the league was founded in the 2023-24 season.
Cava has 32 points in 67 career games, including one goal and four assists through 13 games this season with Vancouver. The 31-year-old won back-to-back titles with Minnesota.
“Michela Cava is a proven winner,” Charge general manager Mike Hirshfeld said. “We got to know her game extremely well from the PWHL Walter Cup Finals last season.”
Greco, a 30-year-old defender, also won a title with Minnesota in their inaugural season, before spending last season with Boston. She has three assists in 63 career games.
McQuigge won the Walter Cup as a rookie last season after being selected by the Frost in the fourth round of the 2024 PWHL Draft. The 25-year-old has 15 points in 29 games last season and has one assist through 13 games this season with the Goldeneyes.
On the other side of the deal, Vancouver adds three players who have spent the entirety of their careers in Ottawa as draft picks with the Charge.
McMahon, 24, joins the Goldeneyes with 10 points in 43 career games. The 2024 fourth-round pick has one goal and one assist in 13 games this season.
Meixner, selected in the sixth round of the 2024 draft, has two goals in 13 games this season, bringing her career total to four points in 41 career games.
Shokhina was drafted in this past PWHL draft as a second-round pick. In her rookie campaign, the 28-year-old Russian has four points in 12 career games.
“These players will make an impact at both ends of the ice,” Vancouver GM Cara Gardner Morey said. “We want to compete with grit and speed, and these players embody those qualities.”
The two clubs will face each other on March 14, when Ottawa heads to Pacific Coliseum to face Vancouver. The Charge won the most recent matchup 4-2 on Jan. 9.
The PWHL trade deadline is March 30.
